We wanted something special to give away in a drawing during our Grand Re-opening on Friday, July 14, 2017; 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
We wrote to Mr. William Kent Krueger and asked him if he would mind autographing a book for us for the occasion. We offered to purchase/send him a book, but he generously told us, “No,” that he was happy to contribute to the cause.
When the package arrived, I was so excited I dropped it! So, the Dragons said, “here, let US do it!”
(The above photo was inspired by "Petticoat Junction" … J )
YAYYYYY!!! Aren’t these fantastic? THANK YOU, KENT!!!
I would like to say that the Dragons were really excited about the wonderful books (I know I was) but then they discovered something that, for Library Dragons, was a bit more entertaining. . .

There are so many cool things going on at the Adrian Branch Library right now! I have never seen a circulation desk/work desk like the one in the Library. In fact, I feel as if I am sort of on the Starship Enterprise – I can control the LIGHTS from the DESK (The Bridge)!
I told the Dragons how I felt, and they wanted to play “Star Trek.”
They took their places on the The Bridge:
In their imagination, however, this is what they saw:
Libraries are great for the imagination!
(A special thank you to Marshall Stanton for making this tableaux possible.)

Where in the Library are the Dragons? The shelves are IN! The electrical and plumbing is almost completed! Inspectors will be visiting, and then the staff will start carting in the books!
And so, of course, our curious Dragons sneaked (or “snuck” if you prefer) in and had some fun playing around the awesome new stuff!
The Library ROCKS! Remember, the Grand Re-opening will be on Friday, July 14, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. There will be a Rims & Ribs event (yum!) in Adrian that night, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Why not check out the Library, then head over for a great meal?!

We are finally ready to announce our re-opening. Mark your calendars for Friday, July 14, 2017, as we will, once again, open the Library doors and invite the public in to see what we have been up to since January!
The carpeting is beginning to be installed today. The Castle feature is up surrounds the children's seating area. The water fountains (yes, we will have real, live, functioning water fountains) are installed and soon there will be water. The lighting is almost completed, and the clouds look fantastic!
The shelving is scheduled to arrive in early June. Once it is installed and wiring is completed, AND we get the go-ahead from the inspectors, we will begin moving the collection back into the building.
After the shades for the front windows are installed, we will close them so that the finished product will be a surprise (and so you don't see us scrambling around as if we don't know what we are doing when the books are placed on the shelves - that will be a project and we don't want the public to see us sweating while we figure out exactly how everything will come together). So, peek in the windows while you still have the chance!
We are still open at the New Vision building. Please visit us there and take pictures as it looks now. Soon, it will stop looking like a library and go back to being a co-op building. 😊

The Library Dragons have been busy at the construction site (notice their DIY hard hats) and are pleased at how well things are progressing.
You can see a top/bottom comparison between the architect firm’s rendering of the Library compared to the real-deal (as it stands today).
When will be back into the Library building on Maine Avenue, Adrian, Minnesota? By the end of June or first part of July.
Please make plans to visit us – before AND after our return to the permanent location!

The Library Dragons decided to make a bird house for their fine feathered friends. When the rain stops, the Dragons will put the bird house in a tree. The Dragons had help from their friend, Alecia Lunt, who helped them and took pictures. A good time was had by all!
